Argos Cheerleaders - Margherita

Years on Team: Rookie

Birthday: October 16

Sign: Libra

Favourite Argo Memory: Even though it’s my first year, I love every aspect of the Argos Cheerleaders and I’ve had so many memories already! It was so amazing to meet the big Argonauts family, and the Cheerleader Boot Camp was so much fun getting to know all the girls on the team – everyone is so great and I’m so happy to be a part of it! I love the practices and learning the dances; and even when it hurts, I love when Brigitte whips our butts into shape! The events are amazing too - I love meeting all the dedicated fans and interacting with the kids!

Occupation: Student, and I also work in retail.

Education: I’m going into my third year of University majoring in Environmental Science.

Most Embarassing Moment: What SHOULD be “embarrassing” things always happen to me 24/7, but I’m so used to it I think I’m immune to the embarrassing part!  I’m notorious for the blonde moments even though I’m naturally a brunette! I even won the “most blonde moments award” of my grade at my high school prom! I’m also very talented at falling on my face at all times - my family, friends, and boyfriend are all used to it and I always seem to give them a good laugh. It’s funny, my boyfriend always tells me how he can’t understand how I’m such a graceful and talented dancer and how I’ve never fallen on stage, yet during normal every day activities I can manage to trip and fall over everything, including myself!

Do you speak any other languages (if so which)?: Coming from a full Italian family with a very strong cultural background, my first language I learned to speak was Italian. When I started kindergarten I was rushed into learning English, and I lost my Italian. Now I’m taking classes at school and trying to become fully fluent once again! I can still understand everything and if I absolutely had to speak it I can, but until I learn more I’m still too shy.

Favourite Vacation Spot: Barbados, Jamaica, St. Lucia, the list goes on… I’ve been really fortunate to have travelled to many different destinations all over the world.  I love anywhere really hot with a nice beach and ocean, I love resorts where there are lots of water sports: I love snorkeling and waterskiing! Basically my favourite destinations would be anywhere in the Caribbean and, of course, Italy.

What do you like to do in your spare time?: I love taking dance classes, but aside from dancing, I love playing soccer. As soon as I could walk, kicking a soccer ball was the first thing my Dad taught me how to do and I love going to the park and playing with him as well as playing for fun on house-league teams during the summertime. I love spending my time outside, by the pool, or beach. I also enjoy rollerblading along the Lakeshore with my boyfriend and of course topping it off by going out to eat at nice outdoor patios and cafes downtown. I love being downtown and I love clubbing, so I can get all dolled up and dance my heart away to my favourite music! Oh, and I can’t forget baking; when I was little, I always used to bake with my mom and I LOVE it to this day! I always have urges to make cakes, pies, cookies, cupcakes, any dessert – you name, it I’ll bake it!

Workout/nutrition tip: I wish I had some good ones to share, but my unbelievable love for ice cream and ability to eat it for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner tends to cloud my thoughts on nutrition tips! I love food and I’m always eating! My tip to everyone would be to always stay active as much as you can! I’ve always been active by dancing, swimming, and being a soccer player; you really get to appreciate what all the exercise does for your body – it makes you feel so good! And of course, you can’t forget the best part: you can eat as much as you want and not feel guilty after!

When did you start dancing?: I started dancing when I was 5 years old at Sean Boutilier Academy of Dance. Being a competitive dancer, I’ve had training in ballet, pointe, tap, lyrical, production, hip-hop, gymnastics, and of course my two favourites: jazz and acrobatics! I love the feeling of dancing and being on stage - there is nothing like it. I’ve travelled to competitions and workshops all over Ontario and as well as Los Angeles. It is my biggest passion.

Why do you like being an Argos Cheerleader?: I love being an Argos Cheerleader because I am part of an amazing family and team both on and off the field. There is more to being an Argos Cheerleader than most people think - we are so involved with many communities all over Ontario as we host events and always create positive and fun atmospheres that lift the spirits of everyone! I also I love being an Argos Cheerleader because dancing has always been one of the biggest parts of my life. Being a competitive dancer, I love entertaining and performing in front of big audiences; the rush I get is the most amazing feeling ever. I’ll see you on the field!

Do you have any pets (if so what name)?: I’m going to get a bunny! Bunnies are my absolute favourite animals; I am crazy for them. I’ve always had one since I was 6 years old. After my last two, Bailey and Lola, I can’t stand not having one in my life anymore. I’m so excited to get a new little baby bunny!

If we could make one dream come true it would be: I’m a big dreamer. I wish I could travel the entire world (I’ve been lucky enough to have covered a good portion of it so far!). I also have always dreamed of being a famous dancer going on tour with celebrities like Britney Spears and dancing in music videos! Of course, can’t forget owning my dream car collection, (another thing my dad brainwashed me with): Ferrari 360 Modena, F430, the Enzo, Lamborghini Murcielago, Porsche Carrera GT, and the Audi R8. It will all happen, I’ll make it happen!

Who is your Role Model?: My entire family acts as huge role models in my life. My mom and dad both work so hard to give me every opportunity I can possibly have; they truly believe and always tell me there is no limit to what I can achieve in life. My Nonna is also a big role model; she came from Italy to North America with nothing and built herself an amazing life. She taught herself how to do everything from a young age; she can do anything and everything from cook the most amazing food you will ever taste to make any kind of clothing you want! I am so lucky to be a part of such a big and supportive family that always cares and would do anything for me.

Favourite Film, Song, Actor or Musician: I like a wide range of music; Rock and House music are my absolute favourites! I also like reggae, dancehall, and classic euro. Two of my favourite musicians are the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Britney Spears. Some of my favourite movies are Superbad, Pineapple Express, Ps. I Love You, Scarface and Training Day.
