COS DeMATTEO
Receivers Coach


Prior to joining the Argonauts, Cos DeMatteo was Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator and Director of Player Personnel of the Tennessee Valley Vipers in Arena Football 2. He led the Vipers offence for two seasons and spent a total of seven seasons in the Arena League, including five as a player. In 2008, the Vipers won the Arena Cup and, in 2009, they were the Eastern Division Champions.  Prior to coaching the Vipers, DeMatteo was a wide receiver for the Barcelona Dragons (NFL Europe, 2002), the Wilkes Barre-Scranton Pioneers where he was named team MVP and offensive MVP (AF2, 2002), the New York Dragons where he was named Iron Man of the Year (AFL, 2003), the Nashville Kats (AFL, 2004), and the Arizona Rattlers (AFL, 2005-06).

During the AFL off-season, DeMatteo hit the big screen to play a role in the remake of "The Longest Yard" and was a principal actor in Disney's "Invincible".

After a career-ending injury in 2006, DeMatteo took the reigns as Facility Coordinator for Peyton Manning's D1 Sports Training Facility in Chattanooga, TN where he looked after the day-to-day operations of the facility and was responsible for facilitating the D1 training programs and techniques, managing facility personnel and directing special events and marketing.  Cos also acted as the liaison for D1, maintaining relationships with clients, parents, schools, club sports and community leaders. DeMatteo also served as a counselor at the Manning Passing Academy in Thibodaux, LA and went on to be the Wide Receiver/ Passing Game Coordinator Coach at Baylor School in Chattanooga, TN for the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

Cos received his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2001 where he was a standout wide receiver. He was named to the "All-Century Football Team" along with Terrell Owens. He was also a two-time I-AA All-American, two-time All-Southern Conference Wide Receiver and still holds the NCAA Division I-AA record for most receiving touchdowns in one game (6).  DeMatteo stands second in the UTC record book in career receptions and fourth in yardage.

Cos and his wife Ashley have a 9-month-old son, Cosmo.
