Kackert Named 100GC MVP

2011 Flashback: Kackert Named P.O.W.

After taking over the Argos starting running back job in week eight (8), Kackert established himself as a constant threat out of the team’s backfield. The University of New Hampshire graduate had 100 carries for 638 yards and five (5) touchdowns, and added 23 receptions for 212 yards during the regular season. It was during the 100th Grey Cup Playoffs when Kackert elevated his game. In the Eastern Semi-Final and Eastern Final games, he finished with 28 rushes for 227 yards and two (2) touchdowns. He sealed his impressive playoff performance in the 100th Grey Cup championship when he rushed for 133 yards on 20 carries, and added eight (8) receptions for 62 yards. That effort was enough for Kackert to earn MVP honours in the Argos historic victory against the Calgary Stampeders. During his two year CFL career, Kackert has been named CFL Offensive Player of the Week twice (2011 - Week 5; 2012 - Week 11).

Remarked Kackert, “It feels right to be in Toronto where the fans, teammates, and staff have been loyal to me. It's my honour to return that loyalty. I would like to thank the program for trusting me to be a part of its continued success. I also want to thank Dan Vertlieb, my agent, for his wisdom and guidance, and the many prayers provided by family and friends."

Kackert was a four-year letterman for the University of New Hampshire Wildcats (2006-2009) as a Running Back and Kick Returner. During his career at UNH he finished with 462 rushes for 2,524 yards and 25 touchdowns, and added 19 receptions for 342 yards and four (4) touchdowns. He earned Second-Team ALL-CAA honours in his senior season.

After a series of online fan voting, Kackert's impressive touchdown run in the Eastern Final against the Montreal Alouettes earned the Play of the Year. Click here to view the play
